From: $25.00 / month

Children’s Health Ministries has been helping malnourished children heal for over 10 years!

The primary tool in the fight against malnutrition is Medika Mamba. Medika Mamba means “Peanut Butter Medicine” in Haitian Creole. Known internationally as Plumpy Nut, this combination of peanuts, milk, oil, sugar, vitamins, and minerals is the gold standard for treating malnutrition in Haiti and around the world. Children being treated for malnutrition receive a daily ration of Mamba according to their weight and severity of malnutrition.

During treatment, children are also given antibiotics, treatment for intestinal worms and parasites, and are screened for other health conditions. Parents receive education in nutrition, proper hygiene, the importance of safe, clean drinking water, and more.

Outpatient malnutrition treatment takes approximately 6-8 weeks, while children with the most severe levels of malnutrition and those who require inpatient care in our pediatric ICU can take longer to heal.

Your gift of $100 provides Medika Mamba, antibiotics, health screening, and more to help one child overcome malnutrition!

Davensky

Davensky was treated at CHM for kwashiorkor, which is the most dangerous kind of malnutrition. It is characterized by swelling of the limbs and face, and sometimes a skeletal chest and back. Davensky was very ill, but his mother was dedicated to getting him well and fed him his Medika Mamba and medication as prescribed. Under her loving care, with a little help from us, Davensky healed and began to thrive!
