Baby Ruth’s story began with heartbreak. Her mother endured a difficult pregnancy and nearly died during a cesarean delivery. After giving birth, she became gravely ill with kidney failure. Though CHM’s team tried to help, Ruth’s mother later sought traditional voodoo healing and tragically passed away when Ruth was only a few months old.

After her mother passed away, Ruth’s uncle and godmother took her in and care for her along with three other children. They do their best every day, but with little or no steady income, the cost of formula — two to three times a week’s wages — is completely out of reach.
